Ataturk Appears As Hillside Apparition In Ardahan...

In the Ardahan province of eastern Anatolia, near the village of Karadag, a certain silhouette appears on a local hillside every evening from mid-June to mid-July just before sunset. Local residents believe that it the profile of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, the first president of the modern Turkish Republic.

To commemorate the strange phenomenon the villagers hold a festival where they make "merry" under Ataturk's watchful gaze.

( Medz Mher: We thank the Turkish Torque Blog for these photos. If readers see someone other than Ataturk on the hillside we encourage you to send us your nominees.)

Someone needs to go out there and disturb those hills. TNT, artillery, archaeological dig! Whatever!

Better yet, let's throw the inhabitants out and say it was Andranik's silhouette all along.

Please ...it's only a passing shadow.Let's retain some perspective on the matter. Actually reminds me more of Arno Babajanyan.
