Local Turkish police Chief In Trouble For Dancing The "HALAY"


According to the New Anatolian News Agency, Elazig's (Kharpert) Police Chief faces an internal investigation after being photographed dancing the traditional Anatolian "Halay".

The Police Chief, Azim Basol, was visiting a summer camp in Elazig for economically disadvantaged kids. It was there that he was photographed doing the "taboo pinky-dance" to the accompaniment of Kurdish folk tunes.

The event caused much consternation amongst high-ranking police officers.
